TORONTO, ON., (September 12, 2014 )– Coming straight from heart of Toyota, the Scion FR-S is made to perform on courses like that of Targa Newfoundland – a six-day competition that covers 2,000 kilometres across the province.
For the 2014 Targa rally, Scion is set to compete in a race-ready FR-S in the Modern class.
“There is no Canadian event quite like Targa Newfoundland to test the true capabilities of car, driver and navigator," said Cyril Dimitris, Director, Scion Canada. “The ultra-nimble FR-S is ideally suited to take on the challenge, thanks to its rear-wheel drive, perfect balance, light weight and low centre of gravity.”
The Targa FR-S originated from Scion Canada’s Tuner Challenge program with a series of changes to the already-modified car to prepare it for rallies. The build process, which included overhauling the vehicle’s entire roll cage, can be reviewed at FR-Sforum.com, scionforum.com, and autoguide.com.
On Saturday, the modified FR-S and driver and navigator Dave Pratte and Peter Tarach will be at Plaza Toyota in St. John’s (73 Kenmount Road), from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. To celebrate the occasion, there will be a barbecue and a disc jockey.
Beginning Sunday, once the rally gets underway, daily updates on the progress of the FR-S will be available at facebook.com/ScionCanada.
