The 2012 Scion iQ offers big ideas in a small package, perfect for congested urban environments. POWERTRAIN

- The 2012 iQ’s 1.3-litre, four-cylinder engine is mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission with gate-type shifter. This combination produces:
- a class-leading horsepower - peak 90 hp - for confident acceleration;
- a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 5.1L/100 KM (city/highway combined) – similar to vehicles that feature less passenger and cargo capacity than the iQ;
- A Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions rating and Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV II) classification.
TECHNOLOGIES

- Engineering innovations including a compact air-conditioning unit, inverted front-mounted differential, and electronic power-steering system with compact steering column combine to significantly decrease front-end length;
- The 3-door hatchback can easily manoeuvre in city traffic and claim any parking spot, thanks to a 78.7-inch (1,999 mm) wheelbase and class-leading turning radius of just 3.9 meters.
- iQ is equipped with a flat gas tank housed beneath the floor that reduces rear overhang;
- Front windshield acoustic glass reduces wind noise.

- Class-leading standard safety equipment on every iQ includes:
- A class-leading 11 airbags - including the world's first rear-window curtain airbag. Other airbags include: driver and front passenger airbags; driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags; side curtain airbags; driver and front passenger knee airbags; and – a Scion first – driver seat-cushion airbag.
- The Scion standard Star Safety System, featuring:
- Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
- Traction Control (TRAC)
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
- Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)
