(TORONTO, ON – June 17, 2015)  For the past three years, the Scion Racing Contingency Program has helped aspiring racers across Canada pursue their passion for motorsports.

 

This year, the support Scion provides is being raised to yet another level, with rewards being offered for frequent participation, as well as top three finishes in sanctioned close course events.

 

“Scion is dedicated to feeding the independent spirit and the powerful passion of our enthusiasts, and nothing does that quite like our Scion Racing Contingency Program,” said Cyril Dimitris, Director of Scion in Canada. “It’s a unique way for Scion owners to proudly showcase their exciting vehicles as well as their driving skills.” 

 

As many as 56 participants will be eligible to participate in the following disciplines, with payout structures for participation and podium finishes:

 

  • Autoslalom -- $40 for participation, $100 for first place, $50 for second, $25 for third

 

  • Time Attack -- $125 for participation, $350 for first place, $175 for second, $80 for third

 

  • Road Race -- $350 for participation, $800 for first place, $400 for second, $200 for third

 

  • Drift -- $75 for participation, $200 for first place, $100 for second, $50 for third

 

In 2014, 28 drivers participated in the program, with representatives coming from B.C., Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

 

The program is open to all legal residents of Canada who hold a Canadian driver’s license and have reached the age of majority in their province or territory at the time of participation.
