(BARRIE, ON) – Scion is about personal expression and lifestyle, encouraging owners to customize their rides. Scion Canada today brought a finalist team from its Tuner Challenge competition to the Georgian College Auto Show in Barrie, Ontario, to highlight the vision, skill and creativity necessary to take it to the next level.

“Scion is a lifestyle, and we want to encourage our enthusiasts to explore the variety of customization options we offer,” said Larry Hutchinson, Director of Scion Canada. “With our catalogue of over 75 Scion Authorized and TRD accessories and the Tuner Challenge projects as inspiration, Scion enthusiasts can see that the possibilities for personalization are limited only by the imagination.”

Taking Scion’s approach to personalization to the next level, skilled Ontario tuners, Team TDS, finalists in the ongoing Scion Tuner Challenge, appeared at the auto show to discuss their competition entry car, a 2011 Scion tC. Inspired by the theme of “chocolate love”, the Team TDS modifications include plans for custom fabricated wheel arch over-fenders, rear diffuser, exhaust system with powder coated gold exhaust tip, trunk lid spoiler, turbo system, and floor mats.  The entertainment system includes mobile video screens, head unit, speakers, amps and subwoofers.

Over the summer, the three finalist teams – Team TDS, Camo Customs and SR Auto Group – have $10,000 and unlimited access to Scion Authorized accessories and the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) catalogue to each modify one of three 2011 Scions, a tC, xB or xD. At Montreal’s Importfest in October, the best modified Scion vehicle will win the team $5,000 and a trip with their Scion vehicle to display their winning creation at the 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas.

Scion fans can follow the progress of the three teams over the coming months and enter for a chance to be Scion Canada’s guest at SEMA 2011 by visiting www.tunerchallenge.ca.
